Born from a tear of the ocean goddess, Orcane is a true eel, with a fluid, shape-shifting body and innate control over water. His neutral special attack spits a water droplet that transforms into a puddle upon hitting the ground. These puddles are central to Orcane’s gameplay: the divine offspring can consume them to enhance certain attacks, such as his side special, a short-range offensive teleportation. The down special attack spits a puddle or, if a puddle is already present, transforms it into a bubble geyser, which is useful in combos. Finally, his up special teleports him to a puddle for instant repositioning. Orcane also has additional tools, such as a grab that teleports him instantly to a puddle, or a dive maneuver in the arena to dodge attacks before leaping out, fins spread wide.
Additionally, Aether Studios has confirmed that all characters in Rivals 2 will be free, including new fighters added post-launch. The developers plan to fund development with cosmetics and other optional microtransactions available in the in-game store. While Rivals 2 has yet to detail the exact nature of these cosmetics, Orcane’s trailer showcases a clownfish costume that changes the color of his effects to an orange hue. It’s likely we can expect similar paid costumes in this style.
