Street Fighter 6 Introducing New DLC Character on February 27.

February 1, 2024

Street Fighter 6 players have received details about the release date for the game’s third post-launch fighter, along with the introduction of a brand-new Fighting Pass.

Capcom has unveiled the release date for Ed, the new psycho-powered fighter, set to join Street Fighter 6 on February 27. Following the summer launch of Street Fighter 6, fans have already witnessed the addition of two new fighters, Rashid and A.K.I. Ed’s arrival later this month will mark the completion of Street Fighter 6’s initial wave of post-launch fighters, with the iconic Akuma joining the roster soon after.

For those acquainted with Street Fighter 5, Ed may ring a bell, as he made his franchise debut in the game as a post-launch DLC fighter. As a member of the Shadaloo organization under figures like M Bison and Street Fighter 6’s JP, Ed wields purple Psycho powers in his moveset. Capcom previously showcased these abilities in Ed’s cinematic reveal trailer, where he fought on Metro City’s subway, demonstrating his Psycho powers by grabbing and hurling opponents to the ground.

With the confirmation of Ed’s release date on February 27, Capcom introduces the “Ed Arrives” Fighter Pass ahead of his debut. This pass offers Street Fighter 6 fans a chance to unlock Ed-themed rewards, including a green boxing outfit for avatars, an Ed photo frame, emote, music, stickers, titles, and a “Neo Shadaloo” in-game phone wallpaper.

A notable addition for Capcom enthusiasts is the inclusion of the 1991 sidescroller Captain Commando in the Fighter Pass, allowing players to earn and play it within Street Fighter 6’s online Battle Hub area. Ed’s arrival coincides with Capcom Cup X, commencing on February 16 and concluding on February 25. The esports event will transform the Battle Hub with dimmed lights and an orange glow, extending its influence to Street Fighter 6’s Macho Ring stage as depicted in the trailer.

Street Fighter 6 Post-Ed: What’s on the Horizon?

With Ed’s arrival scheduled for later this month, Akuma is confirmed as the fourth and last fighter in Street Fighter 6’s initial DLC wave. Given the two-month gap between Rashid and A.K.I releases, fans can anticipate more details about Akuma in late spring, possibly around April. While speculation arises about potential additional DLC characters beyond Akuma, Capcom has yet to confirm any further plans at this time.
